The Amsterdam Development Company (EAOM), with its partners, had the pleasure of overseeing the transaction of this former meter house of the city gas company. The building (about 538 m2) dates from 1887 and is industrial heritage.

The building, located on Beyersweg in the Polderweg area of Amsterdam, was originally part of the Oostergasfabriek.
This gas plant was built in 1885 by the Imperial Continental Gas Association, and put into operation in 1887. The Oostergasfabriek ceased production of gas in 1923.

The building was originally used as a gas distribution station. After World War II, a number of gas pumps were installed there to ensure that gas at higher pressure could be delivered to other parts of the city via special transport lines. When Amsterdam switched entirely to natural gas on December 4, 1967, the gas pumps were no longer needed and the building was closed and dismantled.
